Headstart is ETG's post-promotional-exam programme for JC1 students moving into JC2. Your J1 promos just showed you exactly what to build on. Use the October to December window to lock in every J1 topic, get a running start on Macroeconomics before school covers it, and sharpen the evaluation and essay technique that separates a B from an A. You begin JC2 already ahead, not catching up.
Looking at the run into the A Levels instead? See Last Lap, the JC2 final revision programme.
Headstart 2026 is confirmed, and the dates are set.
Our centres pause for the school promotional exams, so there are no classes from 28 September to 18 October. Lessons resume the week of 19 October with Headstart, and Pre-Headstart runs from 20 October. The eight-lesson Headstart Crashcourse is held on 28 and 29 November, with repeat slots on 5 and 12 December. There are no regular weekly classes from 1 to 26 December, and the programme closes with a final double lesson on 26, 27 or 30 December depending on your centre. Every lesson is live-streamed and recorded, so you can also watch at your own pace. Questions about a date? Message our admin team on WhatsApp.

"As long as you're willing to put in the effort, you will definitely improve tremendously with his guidance, as I did from a consistent E to my first A for my entire JC econs journey for A Levels."
Glynis Lim · Verified review"Mr Toh is an amazing econs tutor, he helped me jump from Ds and Es to an A for A levels!"
Jamie Ng · Verified review"Mr Toh helped me go from U to E in just one month since I started tuition, and since then, the grades have just been going up."
Daniel Heng · Verified review"He helped me turn my econs result from a D to an A. His lessons are fun and interesting and he also gives us enough practice to do well."
Chian Hong · Verified review"I only joined ETG in the middle of my A level year, entering the tuition with a borderline U grade in H1 Economics ... with only a few months of attending one class a week and following their homework, my grade increased to a B!!"
Ian Chua · Verified review"Mr Toh's predictions on the A level questions are usually spot on ... And I did improve from a C/D grade to an A in A levels."

The J1 promotional exams are not a verdict, they are information. They show you, topic by topic, exactly where your understanding is solid and where it is still settling. That is genuinely useful, and the students who pull ahead are simply the ones who act on it early rather than waiting for school to revisit the content next year.
There is a real gift in the calendar here. The months between promos and the start of JC2 are some of the few stretches of the two years that are genuinely yours to shape. No new syllabus is being pushed at you, no exam is days away. It is the ideal window to consolidate every J1 topic at a comfortable pace and to get a running start on Macroeconomics, which makes up the bulk of JC2.
That is what Headstart is built around. A committed student who uses these months arrives in JC2 with the foundations already in place, more confident, and ahead of where the rest of the cohort will be in January. Momentum, not catch-up.
Headstart is built for the J1 to J2 transition specifically, so every lesson does double duty: it strengthens a J1 foundation and sets up a J2 topic, taught the way ETG teaches, anchored in things you will actually remember.

Watch a film by Hollywood A-listers about the 2008 Financial Crisis to understand Moral Hazard. Compare living standards between Singapore and other cities through Mr Toh's travel vlogs. This is Economics made relevant and memorable, anchored in events rather than abstract definitions.
Understand why people make seemingly irrational decisions, and how governments use that knowledge to design better policy. These are exactly the richer angles that lift an evaluation paragraph from competent to distinctive.

Work through top questions from the latest J1 promo papers and the most recent A Level papers. You learn to decode what a question is really asking and how a strong answer is built, so the format stops being a surprise.
The programme closes on two lessons about the economy you live in. Lesson 15 is a deep dive into Singapore's fiscal policy and tax system, and Lesson 16 compares standard of living between two economies indicator by indicator. Together they build a bank of local context you can reach for in any Macro essay or case study.

Want to know if Headstart fits where you are after promos? Tell us your school and how your promos went, no pressure.
Every stage is built for exactly where you are in the window. The dates below are the 2026 dates, by centre; the full timetable is set out in the two tables that follow. Every lesson is live-streamed and recorded, so you can watch and revisit at your own pace.
Every lesson is recorded, with access for 3 months; ETG weekly programme students retain access for as long as they are enrolled. A clash with a school event never means a missed lesson.
The scheduled lessons run at Coronation Plaza, Upper Thomson and Kovan, and on Zoom. Pick the slot that fits your week; if none of them do, the recording is there. Lesson 4 is not in this table because it is a recorded LMS lesson, available from 29 November to 28 December.

Economics Volume 4 and Volume 4 (Electives) are the 2026 Headstart textbooks, written by Mr Toh and the ETG team for the lessons on this page and no others. Volume 4 holds the Pre-Headstart lessons PHS1 to PHS4, Introduction to Macroeconomics, the review of the 2026 J2 A Level questions, and the two Singapore lessons that close the programme. Volume 4 (Electives) holds HS3 to HS10, the eight Headstart Crashcourse electives, in a volume of their own.
Complete Headstart Programme students receive both books. Intensive Crashcourse students receive Volume 4 (Electives), the book their eight lessons are taught from. Both are real books, perfect bound and printed in colour, and they are in your hands from the first lesson rather than arriving as a pile of PDFs in December.
See the programme and pricingOver $200 of materials come with the full programme, and both 2026 Headstart textbooks come with it too. Every one is written by Mr Toh, the same person who wrote the H1 and H2 TYS answer keys published by SAP and sold at Popular.
Every one is written in-house by Mr Toh, the same person who wrote the H1 and H2 Economics TYS answer keys published by SAP and sold at Popular. Printed and bound, not photocopies and not last-minute PDFs. The 2026 Headstart textbook now comes as two volumes: Complete Headstart Programme students receive both, and Intensive Crashcourse students receive Volume 4 (Electives), the volume their eight lessons are taught from.

Economics Volume 4 and Volume 4 (Electives) are the 2026 Headstart textbooks, written for these exact lessons. Real Singapore case material, diagrams drawn the way ETG teaches them, worked cases and model answers written out in full. Six pages from each volume, so you can see how they read before you register.
The main Headstart textbook: PHS1 to PHS4, HS1, HS2, HS11 and HS12. Included with the Complete Headstart Programme.

HS3 to HS10, the eight Headstart Crashcourse electives. Included with the Complete Headstart Programme and with the Intensive Crashcourse.

Pages shown are from the 2026 edition. The books are issued once the programme begins.
The Macro and Micro Express guidebooks, the Diagrams Booklet, the Summary Booklet and both 2026 Headstart textbooks, Economics Volume 4 and Volume 4 (Electives), included from day one with the Complete Headstart Programme. The Intensive Crashcourse includes Economics Volume 4 (Electives).
Materials and complimentary items are subject to availability. If something is out of stock we will substitute an item of similar or greater value. See our Key Terms.
Headstart is taught by Mr Eugene Toh, ETG's founder and lead economics tutor, who wrote the H1 and H2 Economics TYS answer keys published by SAP and sold at Popular, and the 50 Model Essays series published with SAP. He holds a B.A. in Economics from NUS and an M.Sc. in Applied Economics from SMU.
He has taught economics since 2007, has guided more than 4,000 students, and has been featured in the local press. The Headstart materials, from the Macro Express guidebook your JC2 year will lean on to the two illustrated Headstart textbooks, Economics Volume 4 and Volume 4 (Electives), are written by the same hand that wrote the answer keys students across Singapore reference. Get the J1 to J2 transition right with the person who defined the model answers, and the whole of JC2 becomes easier.

Headstart is ETG's post-promotional-exam programme for JC1 students moving into JC2. It is built around the October to December window, between the end of the J1 promos and the start of JC2, to consolidate every J1 topic, get a running start on Macroeconomics before school covers it, and sharpen evaluation and essay technique. It is open to all J1 students, including those who are not yet ETG students.
The run is 19 October to 30 December 2026. Our centres pause for the school promotional exams, so there are no classes from 28 September to 18 October; lessons resume the week of 19 October, with Pre-Headstart from 20 October and the Headstart lessons running through November. The eight-lesson Headstart Crashcourse is held on 28 and 29 November, with repeat slots on 5 and 12 December. There are no regular weekly classes from 1 to 26 December, and the programme closes with a double lesson on 26 December at Coronation Plaza, 27 December at Upper Thomson or 30 December at Kovan. Lesson 4 is a recorded LMS lesson available from 29 November to 28 December. The full timetable, centre by centre, is in the 2026 schedule section above.
Coronation Plaza, Upper Thomson or Kovan, or Zoom if none of them is convenient. Pick whichever fits your week: the lesson content is the same at each, and Coronation Plaza offers a second weekday or weekend slot for most lessons. The Headstart Crashcourse electives are held at Coronation Plaza. Kovan students attend at Coronation Plaza for the Lesson 6 week. Everything is live-streamed and recorded, so choosing a centre never locks you out of a lesson you cannot reach.
Every lesson is recorded and uploaded, with access for 3 months; ETG weekly programme students retain access for as long as they are enrolled. You can watch any session anytime and revisit it as often as you like within that window. Many students attend the live crashcourse slots that fit their schedule and take the rest on the recordings.
Yes, that is exactly what it is built for. Your promos show you, topic by topic, what to build on, and Headstart strengthens those foundations at a comfortable pace before JC2 begins, whatever grade you finished promos on. Students across the full range take it, and several of our strongest stories started from a U or D.
Headstart is designed for the J1 to J2 transition specifically, covering exactly what you need in the window when you need it, rather than the ongoing weekly syllabus. Each lesson does double duty: it consolidates a J1 topic and sets up a JC2 one, with a deliberate early start on Macroeconomics, which forms the bulk of JC2.
Yes. Headstart is open to all J1 students moving into J2, whether or not you study with ETG during the year. You receive the same lessons, the same materials and the same recordings as everyone else.
It is two books. The 2026 Headstart textbook was split into Economics Volume 4 and Economics Volume 4 (Electives), and both are written by Mr Toh and the ETG team for the lessons on this page. Volume 4 carries PHS1 the Global Financial Crisis, PHS2 Behavioural Economics, PHS3 the promo paper review, PHS4 the recorded Micro content lesson, HS1 Introduction to Macroeconomics, HS2 the review of the 2026 J2 A Level questions, HS11 Singapore's tax system and HS12 comparing living standards. Volume 4 (Electives) carries HS3 to HS10, the eight Headstart Crashcourse electives. The Complete Headstart Programme includes both volumes plus over $200 of printed materials: the Macroeconomics Express and Microeconomics Express guidebooks, the Economics Diagrams Booklet and the Economics Summary Booklet. The Intensive Crashcourse includes Economics Volume 4 (Electives), the volume its eight lessons are taught from. Everything is written in-house by Mr Toh, the author of the H1 and H2 TYS answer keys.
The Complete Headstart Programme is $1,200, down from $1,600, for all 16 lessons with a pay-for-12-get-4-free holiday special, all materials including both 2026 textbooks, Economics Volume 4 and Volume 4 (Electives), and recordings with 3 months of access. The Intensive Crashcourse is $680, down from $1,000, for the eight core content and skills sessions, with Economics Volume 4 (Electives) included. Pay by card on registration, or PayNow to UEN 201412435Z and WhatsApp the screenshot to our payment line.

We publish whole cohort figures rather than cherry picked top scorers. The 2025 A-rate was 74 percent, self reported by students after results, so it carries the usual response and selection bias and is indicative rather than exact. SEAB sets the paper, not us. That is why we lead with what students actually say, and why their videos and their own words sit above any number on this page.
Your promos showed you where to build. From 19 October, Headstart turns the window to the end of December into a head start: every J1 topic consolidated, Macroeconomics begun before school, and the essay and evaluation technique that lifts a grade. You step into JC2 confident, not catching up.
We are ready when you are. Register for Headstart, or message us and we will help you choose the right path.
